Zulum to service chiefs: To enhance your performance, you must accept criticism

Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno state, has asked the newly-appointed service chiefs to accept criticism in good faith so as to enhance their performance.

Last Tuesday, the presidency announced the appointment of new service chiefs.

Zulum, while addressing the service chiefs when they visited Maiduguri, Borno state capital, on Sunday, asked them to collaborate with the armed forces of the neighbouring countries of Chad, Cameroon and Niger Republic to achieve success in the fight against insurgency.

“In democratic settings, the military is an establishment which is subject to constructive criticisms by well-meaning citizens,” he said.

Therefore, you are expected to accept such criticisms in good faith with a view to enhancing the productivity in your operations.”

Zulum also asked the military to ensure sustained operations to deny the insurgents a breathing space and to block their movements from one region to another.

Lucky Irabor, chief of defence staff, who led the delegation, assured the governor of the military’s commitment to put an end to the insurgency.
