Popular Nigerian actor and content creator Yemi Elesho has opened up about his long-standing friendship with Grammy-winning singer Asake, revealing how they collaborated during their university days.
In a recent interview with streamer Jigan, Elesho shared that their bond dates back to their time at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, where Asake frequently featured in his cinematography projects. In return, Elesho compensated him with ₦700 plates of rice and Coca-Cola.
“I used to give Asake a ₦700 plate of rice and a bottle of Coke as performance fees for featuring in my movies back in our OAU days,” Elesho recounted.
A Friendship Built on Memories
Describing Asake as a “day-one friend,” Elesho emphasized their deep connection, recalling how they played in celebrity football matches together.
“He is my very good friend. I have pictures and videos of our time together at OAU.”
Elesho also mentioned that other well-known entertainers like Yhemolee, Jimi Agbaje, Woli Arole, and Blaqbonez were all part of their close-knit circle during their university days.
