Veteran Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has candidly opened up about her relationship with music executive Paul Okoye, popularly known as Paulo, revealing that the couple has no intention of walking down the aisle.
Speaking during a recent appearance on TVC’s Your View, the mother of two addressed longstanding curiosity about whether her romance with Paulo would eventually lead to marriage. Her answer was direct—and refreshingly honest.
“We don’t want marriage,” she said plainly.
“The objective of our relationship isn’t marriage, and we’re both very comfortable with that.”
The actress, who is currently preparing for her daughter Priscilla’s upcoming wedding to Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, explained that their relationship works because it’s grounded in mutual respect and independence.
A Relationship Built on Understanding
Ojo offered deeper insight into their unconventional arrangement. As two driven individuals with busy lives, both she and Paulo have found a rhythm that allows them personal space without conflict.
“Because of the way I work—I’m such a workaholic—and he is also a workaholic. That Igbo man likes to work!” she said with a smile.
“There are times when I want to be alone, and I just pack my bags and return to my house. We never fight over that because he understands.”
It’s a setup that challenges traditional expectations but suits their personalities and lifestyle. There’s no pressure to conform, and their bond thrives because of that freedom.
A Love Story Beyond Convention
Iyabo Ojo first confirmed her relationship with Paulo in a heartfelt post on her 45th birthday, back on December 21, 2022, sharing a video collage of their moments together. The post made waves online, especially as it was the first time the actress publicly acknowledged being in a relationship since her previous marriage ended.
One year after the announcement, Paulo—ever the humorist—jokingly remarked in an interview that Iyabo had “invaded his space and snatched him from his many side chics.” Iyabo responded with a laugh, affirming that theirs is a relationship grounded in companionship and joy, not children or ceremony.
“We’re both parents already. We have our kids, and we’re simply enjoying each other,” she said.

Redefining Love on Their Own Terms
In a world where public figures are often scrutinized for not following traditional relationship paths, Iyabo Ojo and Paulo’s story stands out. It’s not about the pressure to marry or expand the family—it’s about partnership, peace, and living on one’s own terms.
And perhaps, that’s the kind of love story that deserves just as much celebration.
