The monarch, who was the 41st king of the ancient city, breathed his last at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, in the early hours of Sunday.

He was subsequently buried at his palace according to Islamic rights.

In a performance dedicated to the late monarch, Kwam 1 eulogised the deceased.

Kwam 1 started music with the late Olubadan of Ibadanland. Under the monarch’s then flourishing Omo Aje Records, K1 rose to stardom.

Speaking of the monarch in an interview, Kwam 1 had said: “When you see the traits of a leader in somebody, he or she will later become a leader. Every leader has his or her traits early in life.

“There is always something striking about them. I have always known Baba Adetunji as a special person, the way he conducts himself, in the midst of others, in his relationships with people.

“His manner of approach, the way he talks, the way he handles things, you will see, even with the way he dresses. It’s like he has seen the future waiting for him. That is the way he behaves.

“Anytime I go haywire, Baba will tell them to leave me, and tell them to allow me be. Commonsense will now prevail, it’s like you are dragging something with someone who is not ready to drag anything with you.

“Most of the time, I always go back to him to prostrate; and he will tell me to get up and talk to me, like a father and child.”
