Despite long-standing Premier League interest, Victor Osimhen will not be joining Manchester United this summer, according to fresh reports.
Transfer expert David Ornstein has revealed that United are not considering the Nigerian striker, despite his reputation as a top-tier goalscorer and speculation linking him to Old Trafford. Osimhen, who impressed on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, is expected to move this summer but not to Manchester.
Instead, United are focusing their summer transfer window on two key targets:
- Matheus Cunha (Wolves): Identified as the top choice for the No.10 role, with a £62.5 million release clause. While the Brazilian is keen on the move, personal terms remain a hurdle.
- Liam Delap (Ipswich Town): Touted as the main striker target, especially if Ipswich are relegated, triggering his £30 million release clause. United face competition from Chelsea and others, with a decision expected before the European U21 Championship.
Ornstein emphasized that United’s transfer plans are not reliant on Champions League qualification or player sales. That gives them financial flexibility to pursue their targets early.
Osimhen, 26, has made no secret of his Premier League ambitions, but it appears he’ll have to explore other options, with United’s strategy focused elsewhere possibly even sticking with current options like Rasmus Højlund if needed.
