Tope Alabi has expressed her disappointment and concern over the growing rivalry and insincerity within the gospel music industry.

During her performance at the ‘Celebrating Jesus 7.0‘ concert, the ace Nigerian gospel singer addressed her colleagues, emphasizing the need for unity and genuine relationships.

Alabi highlighted how established artistes are setting a bad example by separating themselves from emerging singers and fighting among themselves.

This, the 56-year-old singer said, has led to younger artists emulating the same behavior.

Alabi reminded her colleagues that they work for God and would be held accountable for their decisions.

It is wrong to see each other and smile and then go behind to say bad things about one another. God will hold us accountable for these things. Let us stop it. It is high time we knew that we were working for the kingdom and not for ourselves or fame, she said.

“The bigger ones separated themselves from the up-and-coming. And yet the bigger ones still fight themselves again, what do you want those coming up to do? The emerging ones are already against each other.

These children coming up are already backstabbing and emulating us because we started it. They are enemies of each other and smile at one another, they are faking it. This is getting out of hand and God will ask us.

In 2021, Alabi faced backlash over her disapproving comments about the hit song ‘Oniduro Mi’ by fellow artiste Adeyinka Alaseyori.

Responding, Alaseyori called for calm and urged critics to allow “Jesus to take the wheel. She said she had been blessed alongside others by Alabi’s ministrations on several occasions.

Alabi has released several hit tracks and received numerous awards for her talent.
