The group stage of the 2021 Copa America was a lengthy process, with 20 matches to eliminate just two teams. But, now that the group stage is over and that Bolivia and Venezuela have packed their bags, we can look ahead to the 2021 Copa America quarter-finals.
In Group A, Argentina qualified top and were then followed by second-placed Uruguay, third-placed Paraguay and fourth-placed Chile. In Group B, Brazil came first and then come second-placed Peru, third-placed Colombia and fourth-placed Ecuador.
That all means that the quarter-finals will be: Peru vs Paraguay, Brazil vs Chile, Uruguay vs Colombia and Argentina vs Ecuador.
Who plays who in the Copa America quarter-finals?
The full Copa America last eight pairings can be seen here, with the kick off times listed being for CEST.
- July 2 at 23:00 CEST: Peru vs Paraguay, Goiania.
- July 3 at 02:00 CEST: Brazil vs Chile, Rio de Janeiro.
- July 4 at 00:00 CEST: Uruguay vs Colombia, Brasilia.
- July 3 at 03:00 CEST: Argentina vs Ecuador, Goiania.
In the semi-finals, it’ll be the winner of Peru vs Paraguay against the winner of Brazil vs Chile and the winner of Uruguay vs Colombia against the victor in Argentina vs Ecuador.
Both Argentina and Brazil look to be in good form after topping their respective groups and the fact that they have won each pool means that they wouldn’t be able to meet until a potential final, which will take place on July 10 at the Estadio do Maracana in Rio de Janeiro.
There’s a long way to go before then and the knockouts will get going this Friday and Saturday with the quarter-final fixtures.
