Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Special Squad, attached to the Lagos Command, Ikeja have apprehended no fewer than 3 suspected armed robbers for their involvement in armed robbery and snatching a Lexus vehicle of its original owner, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
Gidipoint gathered that the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made the disclosure in a Police Press Release on July 29.
According to the statement, the vehicle was snatched on July 11. Olumuyiwa however, said that the armed robbers abandoned their own vehicle, a Toyoto camry and the car they snatched, a Lexus on that same day it went for the operation, when they came face to face with men of Police Mobile Force Squadron 63, Ikorodu, Lagos.
He said that the case was transferred to the Special Squad, Ikeja for further investigation and arrest of the armed robbers.
He said, “The men of the Special Squad painstakingly went after the armed robbers and were able to arrest one Omoyemi Jimoh, in Ikorodu on July, 23, 2021, while the other 2 members of the gang, Ademola Michael, and Olawale Adewale, were arrested on July, 27, 2021 at different locations in Ikorodu, Lagos State.”
He said that the Police recovered one locally-made pistol, one expended cartridge assorted charms other dangerous weapons, one Toyota Camry car with Reg. No Reg.KRD 417 GL and the snatched Lexus Car from the armed robbers upon arrest.
He further said that operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), who were on a routine patrol, arrested 2 members of a notorious syndicate which specializes in mobile phone theft. He said that they were arrested along Obafemi Awolowo way, Ikeja, on Thursday, July 29.
He said that the suspects whose identities he gave as
Abiodun Idowu, and Sagamu-Remo were arrested by RRS after they snatched a smart phone belonging to one
Olakunle John, an NYSC corp member.
He further said, “upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to have been in the criminal act of phone theft for a while. Further credible intelligence is being channelled towards the arrest of their fleeing accomplices.”
One galaxy A20 model phone and 2 sim cards belonging to the victim were recovered from them upon arrest.”
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has commended the Commander RRS, CSP Yinka Egbeyemi and his operatives for the feat recorded and ordered that the suspects be moved to the Special Squad, Ikeja for discreet investigation.”
“The Commissioner of Police also commended the men of the Special Squad, Ikeja, for the arrest of the suspected armed robbers in Ikorodu and recovery of their weapons.”
“The Police boss therefore assured the good people of Lagos State of adequate security of lives and property and more secured public space in Lagos State, “the PPRO said.
