In a recent chat on the Afrobeats Podcast, the singer said he has always wanted to be a musician in order to change the notion people have about Ikorodu.

He also praised Ikorodu-based singers like Sean Tizzle and Q-Dot for serving as an inspiration to him.

“Ikorodu played a big role in my life. Sean Tizzle is from Ikorodu also. Back home, I used to feel inspired that one day I can do music as an Ikorodu boy because of Sean Tizzle. You know Ikorodu is so underrated,” he said.

“It is like if you are from Ikorodu, you are a non-living thing. I had to put all of that out of my brain, I told myself that you can come from the ghetto and still be classic.

“There are so many artistes from Ikorodu that inspired me like Q-Dot, I love his sound also.”

Speaking on his hit track ‘Chance’, the singer said Fela Kuti, the late Afrobeat icon, was the inspiration behind the song.

“So basically, the choir backup I use in most of my songs is inspired by Fela Kuti. You can actually trace it back, when you listen to their songs, listen to the backup also,” he said.

“There has been choir backup way back before Seyi Vibez. I am inspired mostly by Fela Kuti and the Fuji sound.”

Seyi Vibez has continued to enjoy fame since he hit the limelight. He has also collaborated with notable names in the music industry.

The Ketu-born singer connects himself with the street with his ingenious style of music.

He recently hosted a homecoming concert in Ikorodu.
