Samklef, the Nigerian singer-turned-producer, says friends of Mohbad have raised over N30 million to support the late singer’s son.
Ilerioluwa ‘Mohbad’ Aloba, died on September 12 and was buried the next day.
The circumstance surrounding the 27-year-old’s death has continued to spark controversies on social media.
The late singer is believed to have a child, named Liam, with Omowumi, his lover.
Shortly after Mohbad’s demise, well-meaning Nigerians launched a fundraiser for the late singer’s five-month-old baby.
Samklef took to X on Tuesday to reveal that Nigerians have raised the sum of “N32,744,900 so far for Mohbad’s son.
“So far we have raised! N32,744,900 so far for mohbad son! God bless everyone contributing there is the deputy governor of Lagos state @drobafemihamzat paying last respects for imole! mohbad,” he wrote in a post on X.

On Tuesday, during a condolence visit by the Lagos state delegation led by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, the government also promised to take care of the child.
The Lagos state police command inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe the death of the singer on Monday.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos governor, also invited operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) to join in the ongoing investigation into the singer’s death.
