After weeks of speculation, Paraguayan midfielder Richard Sánchez is set to leave Club América and join Racing Club in Argentina. The transfer deal, reportedly worth $3 million, will see Sánchez sign a contract until December 2028.
Sánchez played a pivotal role in América’s three consecutive Liga MX titles, delivering standout performances in crucial matches. He scored against Cruz Azul in the semifinals and Rayados in the Apertura 2024 Final, adding to his previous goals in the Apertura 2019 and Apertura 2023 Finals.
During his time with Las Águilas, Sánchez won:
- Three Liga MX titles
- One Campeón de Campeones
- One Liga MX Super Cup
- One Campeones Cup
América, who made no signings for the Clausura 2025, now have an unused foreign player slot following Sánchez’s departure.
In a farewell message, Club América expressed gratitude, stating:
“Thank you very much for your amazing goals, your dedication, and your commitment to our colors, Richard Sánchez. We wish you the best of success in your next project, tricampeón!”
Racing Club, a historic Argentine club with 18 league titles, had been pursuing Sánchez since last season. Their last domestic triumph came in 2019, and they hope his arrival will strengthen their squad in pursuit of future silverware.
