Regina Askia, the ace actress, has expressed concerns over a court’s ruling in the defamation case involving activist VeryDarkMan.
On Tuesday, an Ikeja high court ordered the activist to desist from further circulating or publishing defamatory videos or comments about human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son Falz.
The court order came after VeryDarkMan shared a purported audio wherein crossdresser Bobrisky claimed that Falana and Falz contacted her while she was serving a six-month sentence for naira abuse.
Reacting via a Facebook post, the 56-year-old US-based family nurse practitioner sought clarity on the court’s objective.
Askia also questioned the severity of the punishment handed to VeryDarkMan and the lack of action against other parties involved.
305,810.40 United States dollars for defamation in Nigeria? He has an oil well? He has a private jet to off load?” she wrote.
Do you think this punishment is cruel and unusual or does it fit the crime? What is the focus? This guy’s reformation or his destruction? Talk to me!
And the other players in this story? What happens to the person who collected 15 million?
What about the one who recorded the video? What about the one who told the story and the biggest one of all who is the purported God father?
Askia started her career as a model and actress. She became famous in 1993 for her role as Tokunbo Johnson in ‘Fortunes’, a soap opera on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) network.
She has featured in hundreds of Nollywood movies. She also snagged numerous awards as well as recognition.
