Real Madrid is reportedly contemplating a future without Vinicius Jr. and has started exploring potential replacements for the Brazilian winger. While Vinicius has been a key figure in the club’s recent successes, including two Champions League titles, sources suggest that the Spanish giants are considering a potential sale.
According to transfer site Fichajes, Los Blancos have identified three potential replacements: Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres, and Rafael Leao. The club is particularly interested in Gyokeres and Osimhen, who are both valued at €75 million. These players are seen as options that could complement Kylian Mbappé, potentially shifting him back to his preferred left-winger position.
Leao, an attacking player for AC Milan, is also on Real Madrid’s radar, with the Portuguese star being viewed as a like-for-like replacement for Vinicius, owing to his similar dribbling and playmaking qualities.
The move to possibly part ways with Vinicius appears to stem from frustrations with his inconsistency and occasional on-field provocations. Another factor in the decision could be the ongoing contract negotiations. Vinicius’s current deal, which runs until 2027, is under review, but progress has stalled as he seeks a salary increase, referencing Mbappé’s £25 million annual wage compared to Vinicius’s £17 million.
Real Madrid is reportedly cautious about meeting Vinicius’s demands, fearing it could lead to a spike in wages for other key players, such as Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo, during future contract renewals.
