Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has approved N634 million for the 2024/2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fees for public secondary school students.
Government Covers Fees for Over 23,000 Students
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the move aims to ease the financial burden on parents. The funding will cover 23,048 students who passed the Joint Senior Secondary School II Promotion Examination conducted by the state’s Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.
Education Without Financial Barriers
The government emphasized that covering WASSCE registration fees annually ensures equitable access to education, allowing all eligible students to sit for the exam without financial hindrance.
“The WASSCE is a crucial academic milestone, serving as a gateway to higher education and professional opportunities. This initiative effectively reduces disparities among students from different socio-economic backgrounds,” the statement read.
