Just one month after the Women’s World Cup, FIFA has announced the candidates for The Best awards , FIFA’s highest award after separating from France Football and losing the Ballon d’Or gala in 2016.
The “FIFA panel of experts” has made the selection of these nominees. In the case of the men’s The Best award for best player, there are 12 total nominees for the award compared to 16 for the women’s award . On the other hand, in the case of men’s and women’s soccer coaches , five have been nominated in the two categories . And, in the case of The Best for best goalkeeper and goalkeeper , there have been five and seven candidates chosen respectively. The curious thing this year is that there is no Real Madrid player nominated in The Best for men .
The Best award is awarded , by categories, to the best male and female players of the calendar year for the period between December 19, 2022 to August 20, 2023 in the case of the men’s award , and from August 1, 2022 to August 20, 2023 in the case of women . Periods contemplated
The period contemplated when forming the list of nominations for women’s football – that is, The Best Award for FIFA Women’s Player, The Best Award for FIFA Women’s Football Coach and The Best Award for Goalkeeper of FIFA – was from August 1, 2022 to August 20, 2023, the date on which the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup was played.
In the case of the men’s football awards – The Best FIFA Player Award, The Best FIFA Men’s Football Coach Award and The Best FIFA Goalkeeper Award – the period from 19 December 2022 and August 20, 2023.
When does voting start?
Fans will be able to vote through FIFA’s digital platforms for all categories from September 14, once the lists of nominees are announced, in addition to the candidatures for the FIFA Fan Award. Voting ends Friday, October 6 at midnight.
Voting for the FIFA Puskás Award, which will be awarded to the person who scored the best goal in the period from 19 December 2022 to 20 August 2023, will begin on Thursday 21 September and end on Tuesday 10 from october to midnight
