Veteran Nollywood actor John Amaefule has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke that has left him incapacitated.
His colleague, Stanley Ontop, shared the distressing news on Instagram, revealing that Amaefule is currently receiving treatment at Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri.
Stanley confirmed that the stroke affected the left side of the actor’s brain, leading to right-sided weakness. He also disclosed that Amaefule’s family is seeking financial assistance from the public to cover his medical bills.
“They need to run several tests, including a lipid panel, hemoglobin A1C, and electrolyte urea and creatinine tests. Please, Nigerians, help save this man,” he pleaded.
This incident highlights the recurring struggles faced by aging Nollywood stars, many of whom turn to the public for financial aid in times of health crises.
In 2023, the late John Okafor (Mr. Ibu) similarly sought public support when he risked a leg amputation. Despite receiving help, he eventually lost his leg before passing away from cardiac arrest in 2024.
