Kenya have been replaced by Morocco as the hosts of the 2018 African Nations Championship due to a lack of adequate preparation for the tournament.
The Confederation of African Football – CAF – unanimously decided to award the tournament to Morocco ahead of fellow candidates Equatorial Guinea having withdrawn Kenya’s rights to host.Ethiopia were also candidates for the tournament but their application was not considered by CAF as they failed to provide a guarantee from their government. The tournament differs to the continent’s main international tournament – the Africa Cup of Nations – as it is exclusively for locally based players.
