Following reports in Italy that Mino Raiola had died at the age of 54 following a short illness, it has now been confirmed that the agent is still alive but is in a critical condition in hospital.
The representative of players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Erling Haaland already had to undergo surgery in January, and Gazzetta dello Sport reported at that time that the agent would have to be under continuous observation.
“I am outraged by the phone calls from pseudo-journalists who are speculating about the life of a man who is struggling to survive,” Dr Alberto Zangrillo of the San Raffaele hotel in Milan told the Italian news agency Ansa.
Raiola’s clients
Raiola is one of the most important agents on the current footballing climate, having been practicing since the end of the 1980s. Among his clients, in addition to the three above, are names such as Dennis Bergkamp, Robinho, Mario Balotelli, Matthijs de Ligt, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Moise Kean.
The Italian-born agent moved to the Netherlands as a child, where he grew up and played in the youth team of HFC Haarlem. Raiola became known in the negotiation of the signing of the then-young Dutch striker Dennis Bergkamp to Inter.
