A pair of red and black Air Jordan XIII Breds sneakers were sold on auction for more than $2.2 million, the highest price ever paid for a pair of game-worn sneakers.
The previous record was set back in 2021, when Jordan’s Nike Air Ships worn in his first NBA regular season game were sold for $1.4 million.
“Today’s record-breaking result further proves that the demand for Michael Jordan sports memorabilia continues to outperform and transcend all expectations,” Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of streetwear and modern collectables, said.

This is the pair of sneakers worn by the NBA legend in the second half of Chicago Bulls‘ 93-88 victory over Utah Jazz on June 5, 1998.
In that game Jordan recorded 37 points, five rebounds, three assists and no turnovers, as Chicago tied the series 1-1.
The Bulls went on to win the finals and Jordan received his sixth ring, also being crowned MVP of the finals. Jordan gave these historic sneakers to a Utah Jazz ball boy after the duel
