Lionsgate disclosed that it will commence production for ‘Michael’ on January 22.

The film, scripted by John Logan, delves into the complex journey of the man who became the king of pop, capturing both triumphs and tragedies, as well as his personal struggles and creativity.

Michael will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop,” the film’s synopsis reads.

The film presents his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale — from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, exemplified by his most iconic performances.

As never before, audiences will experience an inside look into one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known.

Antoine Fuqua, the renowned director, will helm the movie.

Fuqua previously stated that the film’s approach would be to “tell the facts as we know it, about the artiste, about the man, about the human being— the good, bad, and the ugly.

He added that Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s nephew, was the stand-out choice to play his uncle in the production.

Expressing his gratitude on social media, Jaafar, son of  Jermaine Jackson, said I am humbled and honoured to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life.

Michael achieved global fame for his contributions to the music and entertainment industry.

Jackson’s iconic projects include ‘Thriller, which remains one of the best-selling albums of all time.

He also popularised signature dance moves like the moonwalk.

The singer died from cardiac arrest caused by a drug overdose in June 2009.
