Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is confident of landing Real Madrid star, Gareth Bale this summer, according to the Sun. The 28-year-old forward seems unsettled at the Santiago Bernabeu and he has been tipped as part of the players that will quit Los Blancos this summer. Meanwhile, the Portuguese born tactician has seen the Welshman as part of his rebuilding process at Old Trafford – with massive exodus of players expected at the club this summer.
United have struggled in all competition this term, though they are second on the Premier League table, yet they trail their city rivals, City with about 15 points with eight games to wrap off the 2017-18 season. However, Spanish news outlet Marca claim the Galacticos will no longer be interested in the forward, who has had more injuries during his time at the club so far. He (Bale) has also fallen down the pecking order in Zinedine Zidane’s list as the likes of Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asensio play ahead of the former Tottenham Hotspur forward.
Bale has struggled with injuries over the past few seasons and has failed to build up any consistency, and the 28-year-old is said to be ignoring team-mates – even Cristiano Ronaldo who has tried to reach out to him. His injuries and willingness to play for his country has got his manager impatient with him. After returning from his last injury spell last November, he has not been able to tie down regular starting line up with the current European champions. Los Blancos star has scored 12 goals in 29 appearances this term. Reports claim that Cristiano Ronaldo has been trying to reach out to the Welshman – but Bale isn’t ‘fulfilling his end of the bargain.’ And apparently the Welshman is seen constantly on his mobile phone, almost obsessively so. “His mobile is his best friend,” report Marca. The report adds that Zidane is unhappy with Bale’s attitude on the pitch and that he’s ready to cash in on the winger this summer. It goes on to say that the Frenchman has always been patient with Bale, and has given him leeway to recover from injury.
