Goals from Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane gave Manchester United a rare comfortable 3-0 victory in the Premier League.
The scoring was opened in the eighth minute when Anthony Elanga’s cross was volleyed in by Fernandes.
Ronaldo was bundled over in the box early in the second half having already had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half. He converted the penalty in front of the Stretford End.
The points were ensured when Varane got his first goal for the club, hooking in a corner on the volley.
A number of players such as Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic almost certainly played their final game in front of the home fans.
United are now in sixth place, three points behind Tottenham Hotspur who have played two games less.
