Liverpool took full advantage of their game in hand on Manchester City to reduce the gap at the top of the Premier League table to just three points, with a 6-0 thrashing of Leeds United at Anfield on Wednesday.
The Reds have now put together six consecutive victories in the Premier League that have brought them within touching distance of City.
Mohamed Salah put any early nerves to bed with a successful spot-kick on 15 minutes, before the Egyptian set up Joel Matip to make it 2-0 on the half-hour mark.
Salah then scored his second penalty of the night just before the break to make sure of the points, but Liverpool were not prepared to sit back and protect their lead.
Sadio Mane scored a brace of his own on 80 and 91 minutes respectively, before Virgil van Dijk capped off a fine night’s work deep into stoppage time.
