Liverpool came from behind to defeat Newcastle 3-1 on Thursday evening at Anfield, with goals from Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Jonjo Shelvey, on his return to Anfield, hit a fine strike on just seven minutes to stun the home faithful.
However, that lead for Eddie Howe’s side lasted just 13 minutes, as Diogo Jota was on hand to bundle home the equaliser at the second attempt.
Five minutes later, Liverpool took the lead for the first time, as Sadio Mane’s left-footed effort was palmed into the direction of Mohamed Salah, go lashed home from close range.
The game was put to bed in the closing stages by a long range stunner from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The result leaves Liverpool just one point behind Manchester City, who top the Premier League table.
