Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski has etched his name into Champions League history with an unprecedented feat that surpasses even the legendary Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
At 36 years old, the Polish striker continues to defy age, maintaining his remarkable form as he chases major silverware with Barcelona this season. Lewandowski has now scored 40 goals in a season for the eighth time in his illustrious career, with 11 of those goals coming in the Champions League.
In the first leg of Barcelona’s Champions League quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund, Lewandowski scored a brace, helping secure a dominant 4-0 victory. This performance has seen him achieve a new record: he is the first player in Champions League history to score 10+ goals in a single season for three different teams Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and now Barcelona.
Lewandowski first reached the 10-goal mark with Dortmund in the 2012-13 season, and he has since achieved the same milestone twice more with Bayern Munich, including their Champions League winning campaign in 2019-20. Now at Barcelona, Lewandowski is determined to lift the prestigious trophy once again in 2025, while also vying for the La Liga and Copa del Rey titles.
