Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner are two of Instagram’s most influential users as they together have over 680 million followers.
The sisters posted the exact same message in their Instagram stories: “Make Instagram Instagram Again (stop trying to be tiktok I just wan to see cute photos of my friends.) Sincerely, Everyone”.

Why are they criticizing Instagram?
There’s been a lot of criticism lately due to Instagram’s increase in promoting their Reels, a short video format that is similar to the one that TikTok became famous for.
The image they shared references a petition on Change.org that was launched July 22 and had garnered fewer than 100,000 signatures, but a few hours after the ‘influencers’ posted them they had already reached almost 150,000 supporters.
Instagram’s response
The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri responded to the chatter and reiterated that the social network will continue with its plan of prioritizing video.
He said he’s been hearing a lot of concerns due to their shift from photos to video.
“Now, I want to be clear, we’re gonna continue to support photos. It’s part of our heritage. That said, I need to be honest: I do believe that more and more of Instagram is going to become video over time. We see this even if we do nothing… So we’re gonna have to lean into that shift.”
