Kevin Spacey “not guilty” of the nine sexual crimes for which he was accused in the United Kingdom

They declared Kevin Spacey “not guilty” on Wednesday of the nine sexual crimes for which he was accused by four different men. The Southwark London court jury has made this decision after more than 12 hours of deliberation. The actor, who turned 64 today, has received the verdict in tears.

The winner of two Oscars had spent six years with these accusations that he had allegedly committed between 2001 and 2013 in various places in England. Before the verdict was read, Spacey was standing in a box waiting for the jury’s decision, when he heard the “not guilty” he began to cry.

And it is that the trial has lasted almost a month, where the versions of the four men who accused the actor of having sexually assaulted them have been heard , when he was the artistic director of the London Old Vic theater.

One of the complainants stated that the veteran interpreter had touched him several times without his consent, including once grabbing his genitals with great force. Another said that with the dream of Spacey mentoring him, she went with him for drinks at his house. There he commented that he fell asleep and that when he woke up the protagonist of ‘House of Cards’ was performing oral sex on him. Something that Kevin denied saying that he was spoiled and that the complainant then “hurriedly left” as if he had regretted the meeting.

The actor’s lawyer, Patrick Gibbs, claimed that three of those complainants were lying solely for the sake of financial gain and that they took advantage of his client’s promiscuous life, something that made Spacey an “easy target”.

In addition to this trial, they have won another in 2022 with the federal jury in Manhattan , where he also pleaded not guilty to an assault against actor Anthony Rapp, who declared that at the age of 14 the Oscar-winning interpreter climbed on top of him and made him a sexual proposition

We do not know if after this verdict the producers will count on Kevin Spacey for their projects again, since when all the accusations were made, he stopped having offers. ” I know that right now there are people willing to hire me as soon as I am cleared of these charges ,” he said in an interview in Zeit Magazin in June.
