Kendrick Lamar is officially stepping into the fashion spotlight as Chanel’s newest ambassador, the luxury brand confirmed on Monday (April 21). The Compton rapper will also star in Chanel’s upcoming eyewear campaign, which drops Tuesday (April 22).
“Chanel has a timeless legacy, and that is always something I can get behind,” Lamar said in a statement to The Business of Fashion.
Lamar joins an exclusive list of Chanel male ambassadors, which includes G-Dragon and Timothée Chalamet a testament to both his cultural impact and timeless style. Acknowledging the brand’s limited menswear range, he added:
“Since they don’t make clothes for men, I knew it would have to be glasses.”
Chanel’s President of Fashion Bruno Pavlovsky emphasized the brand’s belief in eyewear as more than just an accessory, calling it “a finishing touch to the silhouette.”
Lamar’s Ongoing Chanel Love Affair
This new chapter isn’t Lamar’s first encounter with Chanel:
- Met Gala 2023: Skipped the red carpet but attended in a Chanel leather bomber and MLB cap.

- Malick Bodian Photoshoot: Recreated his runway look with subtle changes—loafers instead of sneakers in a shoot that had fans and TDE’s Punch playfully calling him “cute.”
“Chanel is timeless. That’s something I always appreciate because it’s what we value ourselves on: integrity, something that can last and treating the next generation with creativity,” Lamar noted at the Spring 2024 show.
