Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are reportedly in agreement that the famous actor overreacted when he went on stage and slapped Chris Rock during the Academy Awards ceremony.
The incident took place after Rock made a joke about Jada’s hair despite her having openly discussed about her struggles with alopecia, a disease that causes hair loss.
“This is a season for healing and I’m here for it,” Jada recently posted on Instagram.
Overreaction
The US Weekly reported that the couple have discussed about the incident and agreed that Smith shouldn’t have overreacted at the gala.
“It was in the heat of the moment and it was him overreacting,” said an unnamed insider.
“He knows that, she knows that. They’re in agreement that he overreacted.
“She’s not one of these women that needs protecting. He didn’t need to do what he did, she didn’t need protecting. She’s not a wallflower.
She’s a strong woman, an opinionated woman and she can fight her own battles. But she will stand by him.”
Smith will reportedly seek expert help to deal with stress by spending some time in a rehabilitation clinic.
