Atletico Mineiro have always boasted big names, from Gilberto Silva to former Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho.
With Brazil’s Serie A well underway, the club nicknamed ‘Galo’ have made official the signing of Diego Costa, 32, who was let go from his contract with Atletico Madrid back in December 2020.
He is set to pair up with 35-year-old Hulk who signed for the club earlier this year.
Following his five-year stint in the Chinese Super League, Hulk has already made an impression in his native Brazil, scoring 16 goals this year.
After beating River Plate 1-0 in the first leg of the quarter-finals, his team looks to progress to the semis of the Copa Libertadores, as they wait for Diego Costa to join the squad.
The pair will feature in a star-studded team alongside Chile’s Eduardo Vargas and Venezuela’s Jefferson Savarino.
With a combined total of 504 goals between them, the duo have won titles in Spain, England and Portugal with Atletico, Chelsea and Porto – an exciting prospect for ‘Galo’ fans.
