Galatasaray has reportedly joined the race to sign Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers after his outstanding display in the Europa League clash against Fenerbahce.
Dessers Shines in Istanbul
The Super Eagles forward was in electrifying form, scoring the opener and assisting Vaclav Cerny just before halftime to give Rangers a 2-1 lead. Though he found the net three times, two of his goals were ruled out for offside.
Rangers eventually secured a 3-1 first-leg advantage, with Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho heaping praise on Dessers, describing his performance as that of “the best player in the world” on the night.
Galatasaray’s Interest
According to GsGazette, Galatasaray’s recruitment team has been closely monitoring Dessers, and his display against their fiercest rivals has intensified their interest. The Turkish giants believe he could replicate the impact of Bafétimbi Gomis, who scored 29 goals in 33 league games during his first spell at the club.
Despite being under contract with Rangers until 2027, the Scottish club was open to selling him in January and remains willing to negotiate a transfer.
Will Dessers make the switch to Turkey, or will Rangers hold onto their star man?
