French Football Federation president admits mistakes: The training centre wasn’t good

France’s exit from Euro 2020 has revealed numerous off-field controversies that contributed to the World Cup winners’ elimination.

There were squabbles between players’ families and complaints over the hotel among other problems and, now, the French Football Federation (FFF) have owned up to a mistake of their own.

“Let’s stop talking about the hotel. We didn’t lose because of the hotel. It was the training centre that was really not good, I want to admit it,” FFF president Noel Le Graet admitted to L’Equipe.

“But if we get to the point of saying that if we had changed the hotel we would not have conceded the last two goals against Switzerland…,” added Le Graet, implying that the hotel was not decisive in the team’s failure.

“We may have made mistakes, it is possible,” he stated.

In football, when you win, everyone is great. And when you lose, it’s someone else’s fault. I don’t agree with that.

“We played the first three games in good conditions and we lost the fourth because that is football. We have to talk football. The rest does not matter,” he concluded.
