Real Madrid president Florentino Perez attempted to lift Kylian Mbappe’s spirits after the Frenchman struggled in their 2-1 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid.
Following the match, Perez visited the dressing room to congratulate the team and took extra time to encourage Mbappe, who failed to make a significant impact against Diego Simeone’s side. The French forward missed an opportunity to assist Vinicius Jr for a third goal, leading to frustration among fans.
Perez reminded Mbappe of his crucial hat-trick against Manchester City, saying, “We are here thanks to your three goals against City,” and reassured him with, “The next [match] will be better.”
Mbappe will now look to bounce back in the second leg against Atletico, while his next challenge comes against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Sunday.
