Gianni Infantino, the FIFA president, is considering bringing Drake on board to perform at the 2026 World Cup halftime show.
During an interview on Good Day New York, Infantino expressed interest in hosting the Canadian rapper, who was suggested by host Rosanna Scotto as a way to create a rivalry with Kendrick Lamar.
I have a great idea for you for the halftime – Drake. Because you were at the Super Bowl—Kendrick Lamar dissed him at the Super Bowl. Drake comes back for a bit of a rivalry, ” Scotto suggested.
In his response, Infantino stated that it’s a good idea and that he already has a connection with Drake, who was present when FIFA announced the host cities for the 2026 World Cup.
That’s a good idea. Actually, Drake was with us when we announced the host cities. I should have his number saved somewhere,” he said.
I expect to be sitting right next to you when you sign him on the dotted line,” Scotto said.
The FIFA president then responded: We will do that.
It appears like Infantino is keen to capitalize on the high-profile feud between Drake and Lamar.
The rivalry intensified after Lamar’s dominant performances in 2024 with hits like Meet the Grahams and Not Like Us, which many perceived as a victory over Drake.
Lamar’s winning streak continued in 2025, with impressive performances at the Grammy Awards and the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Infantino announced on Wednesday that the 2026 World Cup final would feature a Super Bowl-inspired halftime musical show.
The 2026 edition of the competition will be hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico.
