New Twitter owner Elon Musk has shown that he is willing to make drastic changes after taking over the popular social media platform.
The famous billionaire took to Twitter to confirm that the character limit will be increased from 280 to 4,000.
A Twitter used replied to one of Musk’s posts asking whether it’s true he will make the aforementioned change.
“Yes,” Musk replied bluntly.
Twitter threads in danger
The Twitter character limit was initially set at 140 before being doubled.
However, by being able to write a single tweet with 4,000 characters, the social media platform’s popular threads will be in danger.
Twitter has always been a platform for people to summarize their ideas before posting.
In fact, the social media platform’s name derives from Twitter intention to urge people share short inconsequential burst of information that would sound as chirps from birds.
Twitter Blue relaunched on December 12
Musk has not yet commented on the matter but it has been confirmed that the launch of Twitter Blue will take place on December 12.
This feature has sparked controversy, as it was used as a free verification tool for high-profile accounts but now users need to pay to get it.
In fact, those who have iOS devices will pay $11 and the rest will pay $8.
By subscribing to Twitter Blue, the user will be able to edit tweets, upload longer videos, enjoy reader mode and have a verified account.
