The qualification of the Senegal national team for the Qatar 2022 World Cup was not free of controversy, after throughout the match against Egypt the local fans were attacked with lasers, which were particularly aimed at the faces of the players.
Players such as Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, goalkeeper Mohammed El Shenawy, Aston Villa’s Trezeguet and his teammates were all harassed by lasers aimed at the faces of several Senegalese fans who came to the stadium in Dakar.

This match was a rematch of the same match the two teams played last February, when Senegal defeated The Pharaohs in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations on penalties, with Sadio Mané scoring, which happened again when the Reds winger scored the goal that qualified his team to the World Cup.
Lasers began to be seen on the faces of the players as soon as the teams were lined up for the national anthems to be played, when green lights appeared over the eyes of Salah, who preferred to remain unresponsive to the attack.

The referee did nothing in the face of the laser attacks against Egypt
These types of actions by some of the fans in Dakar continued to be repeated throughout the game, especially when the ball was leaving the field and the Egyptian players were standing around taking a breather.
Despite the fact that several Egyptian players suffered these laser attacks, the game referee did nothing about it, not even when goalkeeper El Shenawy was about to defend a Senegal free kick and had several lasers pointed in his face in an attempt to unnerve him.
