Asake, the Nigerian singer, has delivered his first single ‘Why Love’ under his new label ‘Giran Republic’.
The ‘Yoga’ hitmaker released the 3-minute song alongside the visuals on Wednesday.
This marks a new chapter in his career after parting ways with YBNL Nation, the record label owned by Olamide.
The song, produced by Magicsticks, has a familiar amapiano-inspired vibe and features Asake’s romantic lyrics delivered in his signature laid-back tone.

In December, the Grammy-nominated artiste made shocking adjustments to his Instagram profile, removing YBNL from his bio and adding “creative director.
Asake also unfollowed everyone on the platform, igniting speculation about his relationship with Olamide and the label.
Earlier in the year, the singer also revamped his look by changing his hairstyle and getting new tattoo drawings.
Born Ahmed Ololade, Asake rose to fame in 2020 with his hit song ‘Lady’. The singer joined YBNL in February 2022.
The Afrobeats sensation was nominated for this year’s Grammy Awards in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category. He, however, lost the category to colleague Tems.
Asake recently released his first song of the year ‘Military’ wherein he gave a shout-out to Olamide, acknowledging the key role the rapper played in his career.
He also expressed gratitude for Olamide’s support and guidance, which has helped shape him into the artiste he is today.
