David de Gea saved an injury time penalty from Mark Noble to help Manchester United win all three points against West Ham in an enthralling encounter at the London Stadium.
Sadio Benrahama’s deflected strike put the hosts ahead before Cristiano Ronaldo quickly levelled the score from close range.
Ex-West Ham loanee Jesse Lingard came off the bench to break the hearts of his former fans with a stunning strike in the 89th minute, firing into the top corner from just inside the area and then refusing to celebrate the goal against his old teammates.
Then came further late drama as West Ham were awarded a penalty in stoppage time when Andriy Yarmolenko’s cross struck Luke Shaw’s hand. The Hammers introduced Noble solely to take the spot kick, but De Gea was able to save and was embraced by all of his teammates at the full time whistles.
