In a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, Davido opened up about various aspects of his life, including his relationship with Wizkid. When asked if he loved his fellow Afrobeats star, Davido burst into laughter and responded with a warm, “I love everyone, man.”
However, the conversation quickly turned to their distinct personalities, as the DMW boss emphasized that while he may not carry the same rebellious energy as Burna Boy or the air of mystery that Wizkid is known for, he’s content being himself.
Davido explained, “I’m just me. People know me as the outgoing, free guy. I’m not a rebel like Burna Boy or mystical like Wizkid, I can’t act that way.” He added that some people have even told him that he’s “too free” and don’t recognize him as the superstar that he is.
Reflecting on his humble upbringing, Davido shared, “If my dad walks past you right now, you wouldn’t know, so that’s how I grew up.” This down-to-earth attitude is one of the things he values, despite his massive success.
In typical Davido fashion, he also noted that his manager gets upset when he lounges around in slippers at home, highlighting his relaxed and unpretentious nature. “There are people born artistes, who come out of their room looking good,” he quipped, adding a touch of humor to his candid reflection.
