Italian referee Daniele Orsato has been selected to take charge of the Champions League semi-final second leg between Chelsea and Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
An international referee since 2010, Orsato also oversaw Chelsea’s 2-0 home win over Atletico Madrid in the round of 16, on March 17.
Orsato’s linesmen will be his compatriots Alessandro Giallatini and Fabiano Preti, while Massimiliano Irrati will be in charge of VAR.
Refereed Real Madrid three times
It will be the fourth Real Madrid game that Orsato takes charge of. The first was in Los Blancos’ 8-0 win over Malmo in the group stages of the 2015/16 campaign.
The second was in the 1-0 away win over Galatasaray in 2019/20 and the third, also last season, was the home defeat to Manchester City (2-1) at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
