Cristiano Ronaldo’s first match in the Champions League for Manchester United since his return started well against Young Boys, scoring the first goal of the game, but he was substituted in the second half, much to his displeasure.
United were controlling the match after Ronaldo put them ahead on 12 minutes, but a red card for Aaron Wan-Bissaka quickly changed the complexion of the game.
At 1-1, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sought to protect what he had, and opted to substitute Ronaldo in place of Jesse Lingard.
Ronaldo’s face told its own story, clearly unhappy with the decision, but he did give Lingard a brief pep talk before Solskjaer appeared to explain himself to the Portuguese superstar.
