Cleric calls out Femi Adebayo over ‘role’ in Nancy Isime’s niqab movie

An Islamic cleric has called out Femi Adebayo, the actor, for his alleged role in a forthcoming yet controversial movie.

The movie has been under scrutiny after Nancy Isime shared a poster where she could be seen wearing a niqab while holding a gun.

A niqāb is a long garment worn by some Muslim women to cover their entire body and face, excluding their eyes.

The post, however, provoked a chorus of condemnation on social media, with some users expressing anger with the actress for dressing in Muslim attire while displaying a robbery scene from the movie.

Weighing in on the matter, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) called on the NFVCB to ban the controversial film, which it described as satanic.

NFVCB also revealed the film producers are “working to address the issues raised by the public.

But in a lengthy video, the cleric identified as Labeeb Lagbaji criticised Adebayo, who appeared in one of the photos shared by Isime, for his alleged involvement in the film.

Even if you want to act in a movie, does that mean you should destroy our religion? Femi Adebayo, they said you’re the one who directed this movie, I will make sure you don’t do such again.

I know who to call to report you to but I would not. You do not have common sense because if you did, you would have told them that as an Ilorin indigene I cannot do this.

Femi is however yet to respond to the cleric’s outburst.

He is the son of Adebayo Salami, a veteran actor popularly known as Oga Bello.

Femi has been featured in several Nollywood movies including ‘Owo Blow’, ‘Apaadi’, ‘Ayitale’, ‘Makalik’ and ‘Survival of Jelili’.
