Chris Rock’s brother, Tony, has claimed that the real reason behind Will Smith’s slap at the Oscars had something to do with the relationship between Jada Pinkett Smith and rapper Tupac Shakur.
When Tony Rock was asked if Smith‘s slap was a reaction to Chris Rock‘s joke about Jada Pinkett Smith‘s alopecia, he answered a resounding “no”.
It was on the podcast ‘Top Billin’ with Bill Bellamy’, where Tony Rock launched into his theory about the much-talked about incident between Smith and Rock at the 94th Academy Awards in March.
“He laughed first. So that’s not embarrassment. He was laughing,” said Rock.
“By the time they focused on my brother and went back to Will, he was already walking.
“So maybe it was because of Jada’s reaction.”
However, Tony Rock went a step further and gave another possible reason why Smith threw such a blow at his comic brother. In Tony’s words, he firmly believes that the slap had something to do with Jada Pinkett‘s relationship with rapper Tupac and how Will feels about it.
Will Smith always hated “the ‘soft’ nickname”
“I think the slap was the accumulation of being slapped on other levels,” said Rock.
“He said it himself, he always hated the ‘soft’ moniker. He’s soft. Jada won’t let Tupac die, there’s always something about Tupac and his daughter brought up Tupac.
