The highly anticipated boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant was won by the Mexican, who has forgiven his opponent for a comment made during their September press conference.
Back then, Plant called Alvarez a “motherf**ker” and he took that as a direct insult about his own mother.
“He talked about my mum, he said ‘you motherf**ker’, so that passed the line right there and that’s why I pushed him,” Alvarez said at the time, before also posting about the incident on Twitter.
Post-fight apology
But, now the pair have made up.
“He apologised to me after he said what he said about my mother,” Alvarez revealed when asked what the pair discussed after their weekend’s bout, when he knocked Plant out in the 11th round.
“He didn’t really mean it and that he was truly sorry for that.
I told him ‘It’s ok, it’s water under the bridge’.
“I told him he is a great man and I told him one day I hope he has a great family as well. I only wish the best for him.”
