Emma Heming Willis, the wife of Hollywood icon Bruce Willis, has expressed her emotions on her husband’s first birthday since revealing his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.
The Die Hard actor turned 68 on Sunday, and Emma shared her feelings on her Instagram Stories.
“Today is my husband’s birthday. I have started the morning by crying as you can see by my swollen eyes and snotty nose,” Emma began. She continued to explain that she wishes she had a choice, but she is also raising two kids while dealing with her husband’s condition.
Emma added that she experiences sadness and grief every day, and the emotions are even more intense on Bruce‘s birthday. She also shared a reel she made for her husband’s birthday, which she said was like a “knife in my heart.”

The actor’s wife also recently took to social media to ask the paparazzi to give her husband space when he is out with friends or family, explaining that it is already stressful to navigate the world safely with his condition. Emma also highlighted the need for more education on how to treat people with dementia.

Bruce’s birthday is not the only happy occasion in the family, as his eldest daughter, Rumer Willis, celebrated her baby shower on March 11, surrounded by family and friends.
