BBNaija: ‘His action unnecessary but he didn’t bully White Money’ – Pere’s team reacts amid backlash

In the wake of the backlash that ensued after his clash with White Money, Pere Egbi’s team has denied claims in some quarters that he bullied his fellow housemate.

On Tuesday, Pere and White Money were involved in an aggressive war of words shortly after a midnight whisper game involving all the housemates.

Trouble started when Pere confronted Whitemoney and demanded to know what he told Angel during the game.

Pere, who appeared set for a fight, inclined towards Whitemoney, pulled his belt and repeatedly asked to know what was said about him.

White Money then stood up and warn Pere to stop “bullying” him even if he doesn’t like him.

The incident occurred a few days after Pere — as the third-week HoH — stripped White Money of his kitchen roles over what he described as “kitchen monopoly”.

“Someone else has to handle the kitchen till Monday. I know he (White Money) is not complaining but he has to relax. Another individual will be in charge of the kitchen and others can assist. If the next HoH wishes to continue the trend, then it’s fine,” he had said, sparking a silent feud between the duo.

Pere’s action has since ignited a plethora of criticism on social media with calls for Biggie to issue him a strike for “bullying” White Money heightening.

Reacting to the backlash, Pere’s Instagram handler issued a statement wherein the team said although the aggressive confrontation was unnecessary, he never bullied Whitemoney in any way.

“The events of the master 24 hours have stirred up mixed reactions, with a number of people expressing their displeasures and dislikes,” the statement read.

“Bullying of any form, for whatever reason, is unacceptable and we do not condone or support it. We however want to use this medium to express that while Pere’s actions were somewhat uncomfortable to watch, it was in no way an act of bullying.

He is undoubtedly the most misjudged and misrepresented character owing to the complexities and audacity of his personality.

“He is neither afraid to make a mistake, fail, or be misjudged. He wears an overwhelming air of confidence that can easily be misinterpreted. We must be careful not to swap confrontation for bullying just to play into a convenient narrative.

“Was the confrontation unacceptable? Yes. Was it bullying? Absolutely not.”
