ASAP Rocky believes great music shouldn’t be rushed. In a new interview with GQ on Friday (Feb. 28), the Harlem rapper compared himself to Rihanna, Frank Ocean, Lauryn Hill, and D’Angelo, saying they all focus on creating “timeless pieces” rather than chasing trends.
Rocky’s highly anticipated fourth studio album, Don’t Be Dumb, has been in the works for nearly four years, facing multiple delays. The biggest holdup? His criminal trial for two gun assault charges. But now, it seems he’s finally ready to drop it.
“I’m tired of saying that the plate is almost ready. It’s hot, y’all!” he told GQ.
When Will ASAP Rocky Release ‘Don’t Be Dumb’?
Rocky didn’t reveal an exact release date—possibly to avoid disappointing fans again. However, there’s speculation that he might drop it soon, especially with his Rolling Loud California performance set for mid-March.
Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif even hinted that the album would arrive before the festival. But with time running out, that’s looking less likely.
Still, fans are hopeful that Don’t Be Dumb will land before the end of Q1 2025—and maybe, just maybe, Rihanna and Frank Ocean will follow suit with their long-awaited projects.
