Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka is still “a few weeks” away from returning to action despite making good progress in his recovery from a long-term hamstring injury. The 23-year-old winger has been sidelined since December after sustaining the injury against Crystal Palace and undergoing surgery.
Arsenal have struggled with injuries to key players this season, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus also missing in recent weeks. Their absence has left the Gunners with a makeshift attack, which has impacted their title push.
Arteta’s Update on Saka & Title Race
Speaking after Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United, Arteta said:
🗣 “After the international break, let’s see where he (Saka) is. His progress is really good, and he is very eager to return. Hopefully, in a few weeks, he will be back.”
When asked about Liverpool’s 15-point lead at the top of the Premier League, Arteta admitted the pressure was mounting but refused to rule Arsenal out of the title race.
🗣 “I don’t want to say that [the title race is over], but we know the urgency to win every single match.”
What’s Next for Arsenal?
The Gunners will look to bounce back when they face PSV in the Champions League on Wednesday, with a 7-1 aggregate lead from the first leg virtually guaranteeing their spot in the quarter-finals.
