Robert Lewandowski was again the star for Bayern Munich on Tuesday, as they beat Red Bull Salzburg 7-1 and the Pole bagged a 22-minute hat-trick, the fastest in Champions League history.
His three goals broke the previous record held by Marco Simone, who scored three times in the opening 24 minutes of a game for AC Milan in 1993/94.
Lewandowski’s first and second goals came from the penalty spot in the 12th and 21st minutes. He completed his hat-trick in the 23rd minute by taking advantage of a poor clearance.
Thomas Muller (two), Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane got Bayern’s other goals. They advanced with an 8-2 aggregate win.
