Abba Kyari vs Hushpuppi; Miyetti Allah lambast Northern Elders Forum

Elders Forum (NEF) for failing to speak against allegations of corruption, and the arrest warrant on Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari, by a US Circuit Court in California.

Outspoken National President of MACBAN, Dr Garus Gololo, at the weekend in Abuja, said NEF has failed in its main responsibility of protecting the interest of the North.

According to him, “it is a shame that the Northern Elders Forum and other groups in the region would fold their hands and watch while sons of the north who have distinguished themselves in different fields are constantly being persecuted and maligned at the height of their careers.”

Gololo lamented that same treatment being meted to DCP Kyari was done to former Chairmen of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde and Ibrahim Magu and a former member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum, Farouk Lawan.

He regretted that while the US and some elements in the South of Nigeria have connived to persecute “shining stars from the region using the media,” stakeholders in the north have remained silent amid the crisis.

Gololo also condemned allegations of Human Rights abuses against former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buraitai, adding that “once they see that you’re a shining star, and that you’re from the North, they will want to finish you completely.”

“The United States is not the most honest country in the world. What they are doing to Kyari, they did it to Donald Trump and Al Gore.

Let him stand firmly and defend himself because he is Nigeria’s future Inspector General of Police, and he mustn’t allow himself to be rattled,” the MACBAN National President insisted.

He further urged the US to make ppubli, bank statements of transaction between the Super Cop and the embattled internet fraudster, Ramos Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi.

Going by FBI documents that were ordered unsealed by the US court, internet sensation and main character in the multimillion dollars international scam, Hushpuppi, claimed to have offered bribes to Kyari.

The court documents also detailed a dispute among members of the Hushpuppi gang, with the former arranging to have a team member identified as ‘co-conspirator’ Kelly Chibuzor Vincent, jailed in Nigeria by DCP Kyari.

According to the affidavit, “Kyari is a highly decorated deputy commissioner of the Nigeria Police Force who is alleged to have arranged for Vincent to be arrested and jailed at Abbas’ behest, and then sent Abbas photographs of Vincent after his arrest.

“Kyari also allegedly sent Abbas bank account details for an account into which Abbas could deposit payment for Vincent’s arrest and imprisonment.”

The Inspector-General of Police has ordered an internal review of the United States’ authorities’ allegations against Kyari.

This is as the embattled Commander of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) has been given this week to formally respond to the allegations against him, pending when his extradition to the US would be decided by the police authorities.

Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission has said it will conduct it’s own separate investigation into the allegation.

Sources in the know about the case in the Commission disclosed that if found guilty, the Super Cop might face any of the following punishments; dismissal, demotion, reduction in rank and/or suspension.
